Blast From the Past: Inspiration

Most of these days, I sit around dreaming about the future: what new style I will add to my wardrobe this summer, where Junki and I will go hang out and relax in July, what I am doing this summer, what books I want to read (and need to finish--grrr!), what classes I'll take next fall, which medical school I see myself at in three (what?!!) years, and what country I want to travel to when I have finally made it into the health profession. I don't remember ever thinking about so much at once. It's true. I have always been an idealist... and most of the times one not restricted by reality (hence the forever unfinished--aka unstarted reading list, the goals concerning the UGA Wind Ensemble, etc., the occaisional lists that pop up on blog updates, etc., etc.,). So, Sumi put it to me this way: why not make realistic goals?

Here is my attempt. This summer, I will study at Oxford, learn to cook out of a cook book and practice my Asian cooking, take Organic Chemistry, volunteer at least once a week, read, and spend time with friends. That is not too much to ask is it? After all, two summers ago, I juggled 3 camps, 1 job, a blog, and CP Government online.

This never finishing anything habit? I'm breaking it.

"Be great in act, as you have been in thought."--- William Shakespeare.

P.S. Super sorry for all of the I's. =(

Go emily! I love your realistic goals :) we should volunteer somewhere together if you want to, and I know of some really good places. Oh, so here are my realistic goals that I made for the summer:

1. Find out if Public Health research is what I want to do. Start thinking about going to Medical school. (Basically learn something from my summer research position)

2.Learn how to cook.

3.Take photos again. Start drawing. Get that book...drawing from the left side of the brain.

3.Pick a place to volunteer and go there regularly. Or pick two places, such as Children's, RFS, or Atlanta Children's Shelter.

4.Read books - for fun, about public health.

5.Keep in touch with people.

6.Do something worthwhile. I know this is a hard one, but I want to do something useful.

7.Read the news everyday. (I should start this today).

8.Learn how to use the sewing machine. Make some cute stuff!

9.Speak more in Tamil to my parents so I can improve my speaking skills.

10. Become more confident in Dance - remember what I've learned and practice atleast mentally especially by learning the meanings to dance.

So these are my goals so far...I add new ones everyday/take some away. I dont know if I can accomplish them all, but I feel that most are pretty realistic (not number 6). Good luck to us and our summer goals!
